Sampling help needed in kong drum designer

Good Day:

Just a heads up, I am just learning software from ground up. I am trying to run kong drum designer > sampling input, and then sample a drum beat I am creating on kong. I am trying to trigger the notes in the kong drum designer sampler. Whenever I attach the kong wires to the sampling input, i lose sound/midi notes from kong drum designer. However, oddly, the track recognizes the notes, and I can hear the sample when I play it back. What am I doing wrong that I am not hearing the drum pad notes while I am sampling it? Thank you in advance!!

Just punch the 'monitor' button on the hardware interface under the sampling input section to hear the line you are sampling. Alternatively, you may split the output from Kong (et al.) to run the separate lines to your mix channel device & to the hardware interface concurrently.

Thx so much for reply! Much appreciated! One more quick q?: how do I separate the lines from kong > mix and hardware interface separately? Do I use a device to split them? Thx again for help!!

Yes, if you want to send the same audio from any device to two other inputs you use a Spider Audio Merger/Splitter or one of the Rack Extensions that does it (if you have Reason 6.5 and you want the extra features).
