Rave/Hardcore

Hi

I am trying to use reason to recreate some early 1990's rave/hardcore sounds (Altern 8, Joey Beltram, N-Joi, Sounds of Rythym, Frank De Wulf).

It would be much appreciated if anyone could let me have details of any tutorials, refills etc that would help.

Thanks

Dan

You need:

1. The classic breakbeat loops in rex-format:

- Amen
- Funky Drummer
- Think (About It)
- Apache

2. 909 emulation:

- rebirth via input machine
- phuturetone boxes combinators: http://www.phuturetone.com/
- reason soundbank (under redrum, sounds and samples, for the bassdrums those with "xtc" in the name)

3. 808 emulation

- more or less same as with 909

4. The records Altern-8 and co used for sampling stuff from (for Example Altern-8's E-Vapor-8 samples this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r7MjUDgZ0I)

5. The reason samplers

6. A Vinyl cutting machine or someone who owns one (these guys are really good: http://www.drdub.com/) for the finished tracks. It would be blasphemy playing that style of music from digital sources

While sampling and using REX-loops can be a method I prefer finding a way creating those sounds from scratch

Mee too. But the guys at beginning of the 90ies, specially the britsh hardcore ones, were sampling a lot.

You can get rebirth for pc here for free: http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/

You cannot sample directly via input with R4 but you can record stuff with some other application and import those .wav files into nn-19, nn-xt and redrum.

Thanks both for taking the time to reply.

Kovkov - that is really useful cheers, I'm a complete newbie so i'm quite a way off cutting my first dub plate but hopefully soon! I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.......is the rebirth only available on iphone/ipad? Sampling is an issue for me as I only have reason 4 at the moment. I think sampling from an input (vinyl etc) is only on the later edition - am i wrong or is there any way or doing this perhaps a source of samples to download somewhere?

Anyway, thanks again!
