The Reason engine as an alias??? (Mac)

just upgraded to Reason 2.0

i noticed that the Reason Engine extension was installed as an alias... i.e. sitting in the extensions folder is an alias, while the engine itself seems to be sitting in the Reason folder...

is this supposed to be this way?

what's the advantage of this?

I noticed that too. It seems to work fine. Maybe having the actual program in another folder keeps it safer? Like if someone drags the alias from the extensions folder, on purpose or by mistake, there is still the original copy?

can i put the real engine in the extensions folder?

would it hurt to put the real engine in the extensions folder???

... the alias thing seems kind of whacky to me for some reason... no pun intended.

well...

:not sure why it is, but seems REASON-able to assume it's done that way for a good REASON...

maybe when there are updates, nothing will have to change in the system folder, or maybe...who cares??

why not leave it? & get on with the music-making??
