Go to control panel-mycomputer-computer management-local users and groups. Click on your username. Click on member of and make sure that administrators is listed. It's a good idea to make both an administrative account and a non administrative account. When logged in to the administrative your system uses about 40Mb more of RAM. When logged in with admin rights you'll be able to add and remove programs at will.

Why are you going into safe mode for the install? All safe mode does is start windows with a minimum set of drivers and processes. It does not affect your admin rights. As stated in my prior post, it's good to have a user profile and an admin profile. It sounds as if your user.dat file may be corrupted. The thing to do would be to go into the registry and edit it but that's more than I want to write here. Just make another user profile with admin rights and log in normally as that user and then install 2.0.1. Should take care of it. Lemme know how ya do.
