A suggestion to Propellerhead about unregistered users.

Ok so now I have been "penalized" for not having those lil icons next to my name, on this message board.

I'm just thinking that this prob could be solved by simply not allowing non-registered users to post here!

its an incentive to buy the products if you are using the trial ware, instead of having the users take it upon themselves to not answer certain people...
I mean no one knows if someone has a "legitimate" reason for not being registered or has pirated the software.

Also, maybe limit a non registered users posts so they can ask a few questions and get a taste of the help availible later.

This is a known problem. We're craving more, specific boards! Ola! Fix this now! We're dying here! C'mon! We need a registered people board only, and a open board for everybody, and and a music board... etc. It would make things much more better..

On the one hand, you have a really good idea, Niklas. On the other hand, there is Reasonstation for all the warez guys.

A tough question for them to deal with, bro'.

You weren't penalized for not having those little icons. You've been penalized for responding to a post telling you to register your products so you may get a few more responses by saying that it is not YOUR software. If it's not YOUR software, let the person who actually owns it ask the questions. Or go buy your own.

lighten up!
some people are trying the demo, some are CONSIDERING purchasing the program.

my first 6 months here, i used reason with a collaborator; he owned the app.
no icon for me! then i decided to work on my own, and chose to buy reason 2.

there are a lot of variables; maybe we can focus on dealing with the questions & issues posted here (and we can always tell people to RTM)

just my opinion of course...

No dude, it is a very major issue here. It's the Prop's own board! And any poster can spell out the "I'm here now, and thinking of going onward..." or whatever...

I totally agree with you... BUT...this clown comes here asking for answers to problems about a piece of software that he DOES NOT OWN. He clearly stated that it is NOT HIS SOFTWARE. And his response to my suggestion that he register his software (several posts below), was something along the lines of "It's OK I figured it out anyway" I understand that a lot of people will be using the demo, but 99% of the time they state that. This fool is obviously using a "borrowed" copy of reason and does not deserve the same treatment. Sorry fish, I think I was fair about it.

Hi Trin.

I would agree with you about pirates. There's too many, and they don't deserve support. But this guy already offered a reasonable explanation why he's not registered. (see link below) Is it true? I don't know. But it's plausible enough. Then he suggest the props create a registered only board -- maybe a good suggestion.

If Reason is installed on a single machine, I don't think there are restrictions on a band mate, studio collegue, or brother grabbing the mouse, and playing with it. If they come on the board to discuss the program, they're not going to be the registered user. It could happen.

- ell

why he says he's not registered.

Re: A suggestion to Propellerhead about unregistered users.

ell,

I didn't see that post until after I posted what I did... perhaps an apology is in order (on my behalf), maybe not... but this does bring up an interesting topic. You could almost call it "Fair use" of Reason. What constitutes fair use? I know I have played around with some of my brother's software before. Hell, my first experience with ReBirth was using my brother's cracked version. Then I went out and got my own cracked verison, then I bought the software. I suppose I am sort of the pot calling the kettle black, but when you pay for something, see your money being put towards the creation and development of new products, and then see those products get abused, it could turn anyone a little over-zealous about piracy. The idea about a Registered Users only board is a good one, but where does the segregation stop? We already found it necessary to have a Music Forum so people would stop posting all of their new releases here and swallowing up all of the important threads. It could be as simple as putting a few extra lines at the top of the message board mentioning something about the lower chances of a response if you are not registered - or if you are usng the demo, state that. It's a bit of a tongue-in-cheek subject (piracy and fair use) but it's becoming more and more prominent here as of late... I think that the overall attitude of the board has to lighten up a bit and make it as easy as just not responding to someone who isn't registered if that's the way they feel... Perhaps I should take some of my own advice...

/John
