Is Vince Clark using Reason now??

only I was watching top of the pops on Friday, and Erasure were on doing a (very camp) cover of Steve Harley's "Come up and See me": and the synth solo sounded exactly like one of the patches off the maelstrom (formant saw with a bit of vibrato and legato).

I wouldn't be surprised...

...as he has done programming in the past for Reason ReFills. Vince Clarke's 'Lucky Bastard' ReFill was supposed to have been updated for 2.0 last year, but it has been infinately delayed due to the work on their new album.

Re: Is Vince Clark using Reason now??

I think Vince's crush on vintage hardware is a little misunderstood. When I interviewed him in 1997 he talked a lot about new gear and it was very obvious that he thinks most new stuff is super cool, but he's a creature of habit and sticks to what he knows will work. Sure, that goes for a lot of people but here's a guy who is really really reaaaalllly afraid of change (paying some bloke to update that ancient BBC computer software etc). He approaches modern software and computers like it's some sort of voodoo that would explode if he came anywhere near it.

While I can't confirm that he is a regular Reason user, I can definitely say that if there was any software that stood a chance of winning him over, it's Reason. Animated cables and all.
