does Reason 2.5 need more CPU Power?

that's right,

but 2.5 needs more power with my old songs made with 1.01 and 2.01 without using any of the new devices. I think it's the improved mixer that make the older stuff more CPU hungry.

Probably a combonation of several variables, but I wouldn't doubt that the added code needed for the new FX devices and mixer changes added some weight - even when they're not in use.

Doesn't bother me one bit; it's the price we pay for progress I suppose. It's still *THE* most CPU friendly app I can run when composing music. ;-)

I still have yet to max out the Reason CPU to the alarm point while doing anything PRODUCTION wise (Dual XEONs help out there, but ...). The only time I have maxed CPU to the point of the Alarm going off was when I ran Gnorpfs' (or somebodys'...) Reason CPU basher .RSN as a "benchmark" test way back when...

Funny thing is, the Miata is built in Hiroshima, Japan. Guess we can't get more Japanese than that! Best little car I've ever owned (...cautiously knocks on wood table...)
