Some things I keep wishing for in Reason

These are just the things I honestly miss, not saying Reason sucks or anything, I still wear the shirt often!

Misc=
audio recording
resampling
independent sequencer track loops
simple, built in version of recycle
a way to more easily link instruments without one routing dance to record & another to play

FX=
yes, an arp & strummer midi processor
pitch shifter
grain delay
2-input(real) ring modulator

Improved Devices=
more grainwaves in malstrom
redrum and matrix sequencers repsonsive to midi for programming sequences
better note length control in matrix
more cv ins/outs (example: why is there no cv input for delay time on the delay?)
warmer less digital sounding subtractor

Re: Some things I keep wishing for in Reason

:Misc=
:audio recording
- I don't think this is going to happen; Reason's just a big soft synth that happens to have a sequencer, it's not meant to be a full production tool.
:resampling
- K, that works.
:independent sequencer track loops
- Could be useful.
:simple, built in version of recycle
- Yeah, a lot of people have requested this, mostly because ReCycle seems to be a bit overpriced, although it IS an invaluable tool...
:a way to more easily link instruments without one routing dance to record & another to play
- Unsure what you mean here.
:
:FX=
:yes, an arp & strummer midi processor
itch shifter
- In Peff's "Power Tools for Reason 2.5" he lists a method to create an arp using two Matrixes.
:grain delay
- Not sure what this is, but somebody suggested it a while back.
:2-input(real) ring modulator
- Also no idea what this is. I feel dumb now. =(
:
:Improved Devices=
:more grainwaves in malstrom
- Definitely, the Malstrom could use some new graintables.
:redrum and matrix sequencers repsonsive to midi for programming sequences
- Yes, that's something I've thought about too.
:better note length control in matrix
- The note length control in the Matrix seems fine to me, but I don't use the Matrix for notes too often, so what do I know.
:more cv ins/outs (example: why is there no cv input for delay time on the delay?)
- Agreed. Also, what causes the "whoop" sound when the delay time gets turned up or down?
:warmer less digital sounding subtractor
- Use tape distortion on the scream 4. Low damage control, high parameter 1, low parameter 2, master volume all the way up. Happy da fun time.

::a way to more easily link instruments without one routing dance to record & another to play
: - Unsure what you mean here.

A way to play 2 instruments at once and then have a sequencer track play both instruments.

There is a way to do one, then another way to do the other, but I think there should be a way to just link several instruments with one cable.

arp & strummer midi processor
: - In Peff's "Power Tools for Reason 2.5" he lists a method to create an arp using two Matrixes.

Well it's a cool trick, but not an arp.

:itch shifter

::2-input(real) ring modulator
: - Also no idea what this is. I feel dumb now. =(
A ring modulator combines the signals of 2 sound sources, one controls pitch, the other amplitude. The Sub has one built in.

::better note length control in matrix
: - The note length control in the Matrix seems fine to me, but I don't use the Matrix for notes too often, so what do I know.

You can only control Tie now.

::more cv ins/outs (example: why is there no cv input for delay time on the delay?)
: - Agreed. Also, what causes the "whoop" sound when the delay time gets turned up or down?

Well that sound is natural and desirable, it's the delay wiggin out because you're changing the time.

::warmer less digital sounding subtractor
: - Use tape distortion on the scream

I do that, but I'm talking about the charactor of the subtractor being kinda harsh.

You could call it Instrument Spider!

Another way to put a device linker would be to call it Instrument Spider.

Start/Stop Matrix and ReDrum from CV Input!

Could be great for envelope modulation or triggering sequences from sequences,etc...

Making the rack dividable

Making the rack dividable to avoid endless scrolling.
Horizontal is better than vertical for real large projects

Agreed

As far as I can tell, having a series of horizontal racks to devide racks into sections would make sense. The cabling would probably be easier to follow that way too.
