Does any1 know how to do unofficial remixes??

Can u tell me how millions of people seem to have all the samples from their favourite tunes to do a remix with. I know u can sample stuff but i mean how do they seperate the drums from vocal, take a sinth sound out etc.. their are loads of fan remixes of stuff about and Id like to have a go for a laugh is there any way of doing this from wav, cd or mp3 and if not hows everyone else doin it??

many thanks

What sort of remix are you speaking of specifically? Though technically, if you do have an instrumental of a song you could try getting sounds off of it if the sounds are open enough to get. Or if you can conjure up a way to clean up a sample that has a bit of noise, then take that. Don't forget you can also eq out highs and lows of the sample and play your own stuff over it. If you were a known producer/remixer you could get the source material session to get going. Finally, you could try replaying stuff.

You know, there's also acidplanet.com they have remix contests with sounds included. And dangit I just noticed Sa-Ra and Steve Spacek contests that are now closed.

Thanks mate , i have heard remixes with prodigy done by fans who must have had the original session material as i dont know how they could just get bass, vocal, breaks etc into their own version. Its not just prodigy either its almost any commercial music so i dunno but ill check out that website cheers mate
