Hardware SSL strip controller

Just been at work as a dj and using a NI controller and it just occurred to me... Wouldnt it be great if Propellerhead or a 3rd party released a controller that looked like a strip channel on the main SSL mixer? I guess it wouldnt be that difficult really. But to the end user would be amazingly intuitive. Have all the layout..buttons..knobs and 1 fader all patched to control the software mixer over midi. Then you just selected the channel strip on the software that you want to edit on the controller... Just a idea haha

I've wanted this as well. Perhaps Propellerhead's next audio interface will do just that? =D

SSL has a control surface/interface, but it's not a layout of the strip (and it's about $5k)
SSL Nucleus

Focusrite has something similar, with something similar to the strips, but not the exact same layout, but gets closer (also expensive—at $4k)
Focusrite Control 2802

Anybody know of anything else that accomplishes control of the strip and at a comfortable price?

I'm hoping for something like this, which would be part of a 'system' where you could add faders or even a keyboard). Master Section on right, channel strip on left, transport etc below:

Brilliant Design!! Im sure this could be achieved at quite a low price point aswell seeing as its in essence just a midi controller.

Depends on what hardware you use - if you want LED rings for each knob like I've drawn, the price will go up!

I also have drawn ideas for the fader sections (banks of 8) and a monitor section with 8 ins/outs (like a giant Balance), and even a section that has two octaves of keys. All would be able to be connected together to create a giant console if so desired!

For fun, here's a graphically shrunken version of what could be built with this modular approach (the original drawings are much higher resolution), showing the fader pack, master section, and monitor and I/O sections connected together - it's not gonna be cheap if you go this far:

You are killing me here. I would pay up $2000-3000 if they ever make something like that. Add some audio i/o and I am set.
