Reason 4/5 & Mountain Lion

Quick question that I couldn't clarify googling around...

Are any of the earlier versions of Reason (ie. v4 or v5) compatible with Mountain Lion? Considering buying one of the new MacBook Airs, and I don't think I could roll back to Snow Leopard on it, which I'm using now.

If you had to you could do a fresh install of an older OS on that computer, but as long as you're getting a new computer, I think that upgrading to Reason 6.5 would be well worth it even if 4 or 5 does work, and you wouldn't lose the improvements from the last 2 OS upgrades.

Hopefully you'll get a better answer from someone, but most people who've already updated to Mountain Lion have probably also already updated to Reason 6 or higher.

If you don't have a copy of your own yet, you might want to watch the forums. There have been a few people selling up-to-date copies for $200-300 recently.

I appreciate the input, unfortunately I'm not lookin to upgrade to 6 or 6.5, and the new apple laptops don't support snow leopard.

Has anybody here used reason 4 or 5 on mountain lion?

I don't know it but I'd say 5 should run fine, I am not aware of any severe changes in the OSX support..?

Even if it's not officially supported I'd be surprised if you couldn't install Snow Leopard or at least Lion on a newer laptop if you wanted to, but I could be wrong. I'm sure it would at least leave some newer hardware features unused though.

Reason 5 apparently works fine in Lion though: http://www.propellerheads.se/support...icle=lion-info

I know it's not the definitive answer you're looking for, but Mountain Lion is a relatively minor upgrade (not a lot changed under the hood compared to other upgrades) and it probably wouldn't have broken compatibility with Reason 5 if it works in Lion.

Only thing is that Mountain Lion is a "cleanup" release that drops support for a lot of old tech (as for example Carbon apps) which could result in problems but as I said I never noticed any severe changes in the base OS support, Props seem to be doing everything properly without hacks so they don't have problems with updates

Edit: Add to that the official word on Mountain Lion compatibility also came without updates, so I guess you should be safe between ML and L
