Limit it to a supervisor containing 2 combinators.

I've run into the issue of not being able to use a combinator as an insert. Of course, you can "Uncombine" and past all the devices into the channels insert. However, sometimes that results in issues and of course, it's harder to look at (especially when you have other inserts in addition to that combinator). Any way around this?

Mix & audio channel devices feature integrated combinators, though, so this shouldn't be a problem, as to use a combinator as a channel insert you must simply click the 'show programmer' tab to load a patch into the bay. If you wish to use multiple combinators as inserts, you need only to reroute the final left & right cables (which would otherwise return to the 'from device' inputs) to the inputs of another combinator before completing your signal path.

Perhaps I misunderstand you, though..
