RE compressor: API 2500

I would love it if someone could make one that sounded like waves emulation.....

would also look sweet in the rack if it looked like the original unit too!

I was being serious. The only choice we have for buss compressors are the ssl emulations. And no I haven't heard one before.

oh, appologies for suggesting otherwise!

you know how internet forums can be

I've only ever heard the waves version and not the hardware but it is very nice and really quite versatile.

Something about the attack/release that sings to me

This is my all time favourite compressor (hardware & software)

If an RE version sounded as good as the Waves VST I would pay 'Softube prices'

+1 to both statements.

The attack this thing can add you your drums tracks is amazing.
Plus the way in which the tone section can effect the detection circuit and overall sound make this a very versatile unit.
