The Before portion is EXACTLY the way the 10 track project sounded when I dropped the stems in Reason.

This is a before and after snippet of a mixdown I did of a track recorded live at a local church. I don't normally mix live bands so it was fun for me. I feel like I was able to apply many of the things I've learned hangin out with you guys here on the forums

I know there's room for improvement but check it out...

Wow, that's quite an improvement.. the first one made me cringe, the second one was like ahhhh.

Yeah that's a real feat right there hopefully you had a few stems to work with, or was it just one recording?

Yeah it was 13 tracks of stems. Surprisingly there was no clipping either...things were just really out of balance. High pass filtering helped a ton on this as well,..all of the tracks had a lot bleed over from nearby mics...it was a mess.

Really good job dude! I would like to agree with the above about the drums. If you are not doing it already you should group all the drums to a subgroup and apply some overall compression. Another really good tool to use (with or combined with the compressor) is the Dcamp envelope shaper or Kongs transient shaper to tame those transients and make the drums sit even better together.

Really good enhancement of the mix otherwise, be proud of it!
