sounds like you are almost talking yourself into it :P

Based on Mattias' response the day the shop opened, I assume we will see it sometime in the future.

Yes I was actually wondering too, only a couple of YouTube videos I have seen dedicated to the review of Rack Extensions. Granted, I have not really checked lately but I have not seen many articles so far. Maybe one or two but very initially only. I like reading reviews. Strangely I prefer that to videos (weird I know) but videos are fine as well as long as they are informative

I think this is best, even more so when combined with audio examples!

Few people have the patience to write in-depth reviews about some product, as you can see on e.g. Amazon. The only reason some do it is because the reviews themselves are rated too. But still the majority is "I like it / don't like it" type of reviews.

True, but often I find little gems in reviews. I may come across a review that says, "I wasn't completely sold on this synth, until I found out it could do this!" Then, realizing I hadn't ever tried "this," I give it another look from a different angle. Or, someone may say, "I gave it 2 stars because the bass patches suck." Then, I think, "I like the bass patches" or "Well, I'm interested in the pads." I might even chime in to say that.

Just as much as people are worried that the review section would see too many negative comments, I think it is justified to see why a user rated something the way they did. In other words, I think the rating system is pointless if the ratings aren't backed up.

Then of course with reviews, the users can weed out all the BS and thoughtless ratings. If someone is going to vote 1 star and bring down the rating for that product, it's good for the other users to have transparency to accept or dismiss that rating's weight.

Example:
Quote:
Rating: *
User: joeyluck

"I gave this one star because the price is too high and I don't need another one of these."
Then folks could realize, "Oh, the such-and-such would technically have 5 out of 5 stars if that lame-o wasn't rating based on their pockets and nothing else...that's good to know."

Also, I'd like to see a rating system (like the Apple app store) that shows how many ratings total and how many ratings per star.

Example:
Quote:
Total ratings = 60
* = 1
*** = 4
***** = 55
I like the comprehensive review idea as well. Someone should get on that
But I think as long as the store has a rating system, it needs to have some transparency for the sake of the users and developers.

Remember, as much as the Propellerhead user base is aware of BS of some opinons, it is still a base that typically trusts the opinions of the whole. Even with the trial period, folks are still creating threads titled along the lines of, "Should I buy X or Y?" So, soon, when the shop is overflowing with REs, many users will place a good amount of weight on those stars. I say, it would be best to create some transparency with those stars.

It is pretty much what you said in your second sentence of your first post lol, just angled a bit differently.

I had also mentioned in another thread in the past about it being good to have all reviews in one location—which makes it easier for developers and users to research. Great minds think alike

+1 .
would be great!
