Audio to CV with pitch detection?

A device similar to the audio to CV in shop' with the ability to do pitch detection for instance plug a mic in and play a synth or sampler/ wonder if this would be possible now.

Would be great to just pick up a mic and seq some mono synth parts/leads bass etc. using you're own voice to midi.

Real time pitch detection is cool stuff, but impossible for implementation... There will be delay in any case...

Pitch tracking like Neptune?

Note tracking like Bitspeek?

Why ask for things already available?

I think what he's suggesting (which would be awesome) is the ability to have the pitches in an audio track detected and converted into note values... i.e. I sing a melody line and the Thor can play it back, rather than me having to play it all on the keyboard. I don't think any current device can do that, can it?

Yes, Bitspeek (Note CV out) or Neptune (Pitch CV out convertible into Note CV with some CV math through Thor or CV Spiders) can play any rack instrument monophonically.

So, singing or playing a flute, a guitar (monophonically), a violin, a clarinet, etc... through direct audio input or as an audio track sent to any of those 2 devices can drive any instrument with Gate+Note CV inputs at the back.

This is why sometimes I think some Reason users don't actually know what they have in their hands when I see some feature requests or new REs doing what was already possible before with native devices unless you're a Reason Essentials user, then some of those REs are a blessing.

Resampler also has a pitch CV out. It should work fine for mono sounds.
