is it crap? I need to know

Hello,

I've been working too much on a track and I can't hear anything good in it now. You know the feeling when you're fed up like "I gonna to delete this piece of crap". So please tell me if it is worth it or not, do you feel something when you listen to it or not? By the way, it's all done in reason 6.5 with home made synthesizer no vocal.

PS: it seems that the embedded soundcloud player can't play secret links

Not really my genre but I can safely say that you shouldn't delete it. Seems pretty slick to me. Probably worth coming back to it after you've left it a while.

I'm only about halfway through, but so far I'm digging it. very chill. I'd give the same advice hamst3rf1sh gave; toss it in a folder for a month or two and come back to it with fresh ears. definitely some good stuff going on in there.

oh, and you may not be looking for production/mixing feedback, but I'll share this anyway. I think the way you've got one of the main mix compressors sidechained to create that bumping sensation sounds very nice. I would like to hear what it would sound like if you found a way to exempt the bassline from that compressor though. it kind of cuts up the flow of the bassline and detracts a bit from it, in my opinion. solid track!

The kick seems a bit too strong yo! Cool groove and synth and bass line but that kick is WAY overpowering even for that genre. Too boomy. I'd bring it down a tad around 60Hz or wherever you boosted it for sure. Also, maybe turn down the volume some on that synth or pad wash around the middle section.
It's not crap though. Just needs some tweeking is all. Love the effects.

anyway if you are feeling a bit stuck being not so sure about what you´re doing, you could try something new with your next one. New pad sounds, new synth sound, new drums, maybe even a change in beat, e.g. breaks, far beyond driven ambient beats etc.

Hi guys,
thank you for your answers, I gonna keep it

beerski : your advice seems so legit now that I listen again the song ! Since I used a kongdrum bass drum synthesizer
I will be able to tweak the bounce of the kick drum by reducing the decay and/or changing the tone.

guitfnky: yeah you're right, I should try to limit the sidechain compressor on the bass

moofi: thanks, I did a lot of ambient/downtempo tracks in the past and now I try to produce more "danceable" songs. But you're definitely right about trying new sounds, I learn Reason everyday, I find new way to create sounds. I never reused a synthesizer from a previous songs. In fact in this track, I use a synthesizer for all the hihat, I've never done this before.

I dig it! Sound a little bit like Underworld!

(No music is crap! Never ever listen to those silly comments because most likley it is only those who have no Fu#king clue about music who give those kind of ignorant answer)

Keep on with the music! Go, go with the flow!
