The reference input is meant to be used for a reference track - in other words - an already mastered (and usually commercially available) song that you are trying to match your own mix to.

Use it by importing a song who's sound you are trying to mimic. Then take the audio-out from that track and send it to Flower's reference input. You can then toggle the button on front during playback to compare your mix to that of your reference song.
