I like it, but there are a few things bugging me about the track. Let me know what you think if you have a sec. Thanks!

The rapping could do more than just babbling one key - it should bend for some words of it. But otherwise not bad IMO.

Wow! Can't believe you really worked with a legend! (I.M.O)

So here's what I think:

The vocal seems to be on an other level than the music. The vocal should blend in more with the music characteristics. (If that make sense....)

At 1:40 I personally would liked a break down with no vocal for (let's say 2 bars) and then the chorus again.

I like this, it could be really good, but the vocals definitely need to sit in better with the instrumental (volume-wise). At the moment it's almost like an acapella rap with an instrumental playing way in the background.

Yea I agree, this track is tough as his lyrics are so dense its hard to fit other stuff in there but I will work on it.

As far as the tuning his vocals thought...NO! Autotune in rap is a terrible fad that will go away soon. /Rant

Any more thoughts guys?

I agree with AvatarOne. Beat needs to be More Prominent. Also I thought the change ups on the beat were a little on the weak side, almost like an after thought.

Do you mean the chorus?

And you guys are correct the beat was done when he got it. But now its time to shave it down to make it fit

I'm working on a track with a rapper. I've sent an early version of the instrumental over to him, I also sent him a version of the instrumental with 3 verses taken from the acapella of Jurassic 5's 'What's Golden' over the top, to show him the style I'm looking for. The link to that is here:

I've low cut the vocals from around 150hz, but made sure that the EQ is bypassed when the instrumental thins out. Obviously, you've got some added stereo width in your vocals, but that shouldn't be a problem.

The kick drum is the loudest peaking track in this clip, and the vox are peaking about 2-3db below that. I think it sounds about right. Obviously, my instrumental is very different to yours though.

The verses: Boost & EQ a bit.
The hook: Drop volume a tad.

I think it's dope you worked with him. Good work!
