Backward Compatibility?

I am considering getting a copy of Reason 6.5. I am working with a friend who is using 5. Will I be able to open his files and will he be able to open mine so we can continue working together, or should I wait until he can also buy an updated version?

Reason is backwards compatible (new version open old versions files) but not forwards compatible (old version open newer versions files).

Well, I still may as version 5 isn't working on my new computer and I wanted to get the Recording ability it now has. I do appreciate the feedback. It's good to know beforehand. Old files, I presume, are capable of being opened in newer versions?

File compatibility is listed at the bottm of this page https://www.propellerheads.se/produc...mparison-chart

Reason 6.5 can open any Reason or Record file but it will only save as Reason 6.5!
