Reason Essentials, commercial rights

Hello folks!

Question:
What rights do I have when it comes to music produced with Reason Essentials?

I have no prior experience of Reason but have always wanted to get into it for many years. Time and price was in my way most of the time. Today, I see there's "Reason Essentials" which seem to be a nice gateway into Reason in terms of at least price.

However, what rights do I have? Are they different from that of Reason "Full"? Are all sounds included in the product free to use in commercial music productions?

I've seen a few notices about the samples in Reason being free to use in commercial music productions, but I didn't see Reason Essentials mentioned specifically. Apologies if I missed it.

You have full rights over your music. All sounds and patches are licensed for use in music production. What you cannot do though is repack the sounds and patches in another soundbank or ReFill and sell them as if they were yours.

If you can find a copy for sale of the Essentials that comes with the Balance, buy that one instead of the retail version.

The retail version costs $329 to upgrade, while the Balance version only costs $169 to upgrade.

You can also watch for people selling older Reason licenses for ~ $100, and Reason 6/6.5 for ~ $200-300.

Wrt older versions of Reason... another benefit of the Essentials from Balance is that it will upgrade a register R1-5 to R6/6.5 for free, provided that it hasn't been used in another upgrade.

If you want to know more, just ask, so I don't have to write this book again.

Hmm... So, you can buy a used license of Reason?

That sounds almost unreal today when everything is registered to a single account forever.

Although if you have more coins then I'd pick Reason 6.5 instead of Reason Essentials 1.5!

I would but I know too little about it still and can't afford taking the risk. I don't know what I get or don't get with Essentials either no matter how much I look at the comparison list ;D

The software and terminology used is rather alien to me.

Download the demo. It is the full version except you cannot open or export projects.
