Smile Acapellas

Does anyone know if Reason 6 is capable of making vocal acapellas?

It is of course by recording or using loops, etc.; but I've got a feeling that you're asking if Reason can remove the music from a commercial song and leave only the vocals, or vice versa.

The answer is that Reason nor any DAW can do a great job of it and it's a pain to try and kinda fun; but don't expect to be blown away by the results. There are acapella sites with free downloads but the pickings are slim.

Yeah I had a feeling you can't do it. Wish somebody would take care of that! Thanks so much for your reply.

I suppose it can as well as anything else to some degree. Get some mid/side encoder like stereo splitter, peel off the sides, followed by a high pass set up, maybe a transient processor (sustain down) or a gate to get rid of some of the noise. Try and EQ back in some of the vocal frequencies that got destroyed. I think you're on your way. Depends on the source also.

Since you and others may be interested, I’m going to post some links to threads and websites that have been discussed here about acapella availability. Here’s one: https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/showthread.php?t=165493 .

Here’s a good thread-inside-a-thread with pushedbutton’s explanation of why it’s tough for Reason or any DAW to do extraction: https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/showthread.php?t=175216&highlight=pushedbutto%2A .

Edit: And more acapella threads and websites - some good stuff: https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...d.php?t=151736 and https://www.propellerheads.se/forum/...d.php?t=102771 .
