Yes, thinking about it in this way further confirms for me that segregating multiple cores to process multiple sample rates & buffers independently is a zero-sum game. If, for example, I have my 96kHz stream allocated to one half of my cores (ignoring Reason's actual behavior for the moment) while running a parallel 'back-up' on the second, I might as well bump up to 176.4k (e.g.) distributed across all cores, thereby allowing me both higher quality & better stability.

I still think it is a very interesting idea, albeit one lacking any compelling advantage.

When I eventually upgrade to a better machine, though, the dual-rig setup I would very much like to try.

Considering that I am struggling to snag even the introductory-priced Rack Extensions, I think that for now I will just dust off my old eMac and take it for a spin instead.
