Question Mastering Workflow

Hello folks,

My name is Chris, I'm new to the forums.

I live in lovely New Jersey USA just minutes from NYC. I'm focused primarily on Progressive House, Progressive Trance, and Electro production. I'm two years into working with Reason and music production in general. I feel I'm at a point where I want to tackle the mastering process.

Would anyone be interested in sharing your mastering workflow?
  • What are the steps you take for mastering?
  • Do you use only Reason capabilities to master?
  • Do you use any other external applications in conjunction with Reason to complete your mastering?
Thanks for sharing!

I watched loads of tutorials on mastering, picked up bits and pieces from here and there and created a template for myself. It includes Multiband Compression, Mid/Side Compression, Tape Saturation and a bit of limiting. I use Reason for all of this, but I usually maximize my output to -0,4db, so I need to normalize it, which I do in Sound Forge.

Thanks JC. Is the template something you care to share? If not, any links you can provide to tutorials?
