whatever you do, don't read the manual, or installation instructions on your audio interface - if you do, you might get it to work.

on a serious note...

start reason ... edit >> preferences | audio ; select your interface.

if that does't work - if the audio interface doesn't show...

close reason
unplug audio interface
uninstall audio interface drivers
reboot
re-install audio drivers
plug in audio interface
let it auto-detect - wait for ready to use
plug in audio interface
start reason
edit >> preferences | audio ; select your interface
