Can you imagine how far it'll get you when ART will be revealed at the end of this year?

If you are updating from 6 to 6.2 or 6.5 you MUST removed the factory and orkester refills (and any other user refills) as they will be deleted during installation. Just drag them out of the folder and after update/install drop them back in.
You wont need to do that (as had been pointed out) as R7 will be a new updated soundbank but you will have to drag out any user refills...best to keep user refills far away from your props folder at all times.

I'm bumping this old thread because I'm a bit confused. Best Buy has Reason 6 on sale right now, Propellerheads page says buy a qualifying product after March 31st and get a free upgrade to 7. OP here said he bought 6, unless I'm reading wrong only 6.5 gets the free 7 upgrade? But if I buy 6 I get a free upgrade to 6.5

My question is, would buying 6 from Best Buy get me a free upgrade to 7? And am I wrong to assume Best Buy's an authorized dealer?

Okay, after Reason 7 was announced, there was a "grace period" promo that from March 1st, until Reason 7 ship date, if you bought Reason 6.5 the upgrade to Reason 7 was free.

In essence, you were pre-ordering Reason 7 at that time by purchasing Reason 6.5.

I'm not sure if the free upgrade applied at that time if you purchased Reason 6, as it was possible that some official dealers still had boxed versions of Reason 6, and as you said, Reason 6.5 was a free upgrade.

As for right now, you really need to send an email to Propellerhead support and get the official word, because Reason 7 is now shipping, and it's quite likely that the "grace period" is now closed.

Fwiw, Reason 6.5 is selling in the $150 range on the secondary market, so if the grace period is closed, you can still try to find a deal.

I looked on bestbuy.com and don't see R6 on sale, I don't see R6 at full price either - only an R6 upgrade at the 'normal' price.

what price do you see for R6 on sale?

amazon has R7 for 339.88.

Only BEFORE Reason 7 was released. Once Reason 7 was released, the "grace" period was over.
