A simple solution I really can't believe that no other DAW has implemented!

The Props really aren't making such a big deal about this feature IMO, but it's a 'first' and an important one as you point out. Check it out, it also follows the mute button on the bus channel so you won't get 'ghost sends' like in other DAWs. :-)
So they're really more VCAs with inserts than traditional subgroups. I like it.

They act somewhat like VCAs in some respects, but they don't have anything in common with VCA groups other than producing a similar end result. VCA groups are much more limited and have more in common with fader groups IMO than with audio sub-mixes/groups. :-)

if you just dont use the efx or sends on the master group channel you have it.
No it is not silly since all the track faders start at unity gain. What if
I want all faders down to re-level channels...within a group? What if I want to re-level all the drums...if it were silly, then why is it an option in soooo many Daws? One of the reasons why I like Reaper.

Duh...we are you talking about multiple faders...Duh Condescending Asshole! What if you have set levels already and want to adjust them all equally? Duh You do know what multiple means, right? Only an idiot would prefer to move 20 faders separately vs. selecting 20 channels and moving 20 by moving 1... This is possible on the hardware SSL and other consoles Duuuuuuh!!

Let me give you some advice. Focus on solutions, not on problems.
