The Download Issues Continue

Well, this is really odd. First off, I had all sorts of problems getting the licensing info onto my ignition key. In the end I had to download Authorizer to another computer, then update my ignition key, then get the R-7 license on to that. Then I put the ignition key back into my studio computer and it boots up fine. Both the standalone 64bit and the 32bit in Pro Tools come up just fine. HOWEVER, in the 64 bit standalone, I can't see any of my refills in the folder. I have several but only the factory soundbank, orkester and 1 other show up in the window where they ALL are located. But, when I bring up R-7 inside Pro Tools, ALL of the refills are there, in the same window.

Huh?

Then, after I got my RE license updated, I tried to download the Audiomatic RE. But when I click on download, Firefox goes all weird on my, just like it did when I tried to access my ignition key info. How the heck am I supposed to download RE's? I can't understand at all why I'm having such an issue with this. It seems to have something to do with the "Phrem" file...whatever the heck that means.

I have the latest version of Firefox installed as my browser. The odd thing is, the very same version of Firefox on the other PC (my wife's), and I was able to finally update my ignition key. Clearly there is some issue with the browser on my studio PC...but for the life of me I can't even begin to understand what?!?! I don't want to have to go through 15 hoops every time I just want to download an RE. Apparently you need authorizer in order to download any RE? I don't get that, but that appears to be how it set up.

If anyone has any insights, I'm all ears!

Thanks

The "phrem" file extension is supposed to be interpreted by your browser as a signal to open up the Authorizer. If it doesn't, then something is preventing it - the extension is not recognized for some reason (perhaps you have something that is blocking it, or you did not allow the extension to be established during installation).

If you have security settings that prevent the Authorizer from opening, you need to disable or lessen those settings, at least for the Propellerhead site. If the extension is not recognized, then you may need to re-install Reason, or Firefox, or both.

Well, what I ended up doing was finding the phrem thingy in Firefox using options and settings. I then told it to ask me what phrem file to use. Then when I clicked on the download tab it did ask and I pointed Firefox to Authorizer. So far so good. Except...it was authorizer ver 1.0 not 2.5, which I thought was automatically downloaded with Reason 7. So, I've uninstalled Reason and authorizer, reinstalled Reason. And I've reinstalled Authrizer, but can't find where it was put on my hard drive so I can tell Firefox where to look for it. This is just crazy. It shouldn't be this difficult and its all because of these blasted authorization keys. I understand the need for them, but there really has to be a simpler way to do this. iLoks and ignition keys and phrem files and all the lot...we be but humble musicians here...not computer programmers!

And I did finally locate the Authorizer - so it appears it is all working now. But geesh! And the sad thing is, I won't remember how to do all this the next time!

Well as long as you remember this thread the instructions will be right here, including the authorizer location in case you forget that: C:\Program Files\Propellerhead\Authorizer

If only it were that easy! That was the first place I looked for it and it wasn't there. Its in a different location and I don't really understand why! That's what confused me when I was trying to set it up!
