Hehe. People prefer more the size of mp3 when sharing ideas and rough drafts quickly.

To avoid license problems, a solution can be something like Audacity:

The option is there, but the codec is not included.

EDIT
I didn't see this post. Pardon.

Also, one could easily define their audio tool of choice for further processing.

Hi there, is there any particular reason why you dont want the option of MP3 export?

And what is ogg im/export if you dont mind me asking?

Well ogg vorbis is the far superior format. It sounds better, has smaller filesize, is patent free, and can be used without paying royalties.

And if the props are at it they could also add support for FLAC (which is the same, but for lossless audio compression) as well.

Ahh i learn something new every day

PS dont p.c game designers use them? I searched my "Doom" p.c game the other day for sound files and saw a shit load of ogg files in there but never thought that they were sound files?

To be honest, i think they should cater for all file types in this day in age... big thanks for getting back to me.

Much appreciated

Cool. Whatever works! I'm just looking for an alternative to be able to share ideas quickly in a small file format (without having to export AIFF/WAV, encode, delete the original AIFF/WAV...)

I think when more folks understand the purpose, they'll understand it isn't about wanting to export and keep as a final a compressed file.
