2 Reasons why more might be coming.....

Looking at the Thor video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMfiK6SinXU I notice 2 encouraging things.

1) James says thor is coming to "*some* upcoming version of reason in the future" (9m48s). Surely it's coming in "the next version" of reason. IMHO, "some upcoming version", and waving your hands into the future like he does is smoke and mirrors - trying to make it seem far away when it's really coming sooner.

2) He says "we wanted to let you know what we're working on", but notice in the file browser when he selects patches (1m37sec) that some of them were made quite a while back. One was made Oct 27 2006 and the others shortly after. So it seems like Thor has been pretty ready for quite a while, which means he can't legitimately say "what we're working on". In fact, he kind of grins as he says it.

So, I'm kind of hopeful, but the suspense is a killer!

Re: 2 Reasons why more might be coming.....

Also notice that during some of the patches he plays he purposefully closes the programmer window that shows the oscillator and filter drop downs.

Could this be because they are working on several other osc and filter types that we haven't seen yet and that aren't the finished article/don't have nice front ends for them yet?

I'm imagining the next version of reason will have a few more goodies than just Thor, though I may be wrong.

Maybe Thor is coming out in reason 4.0, but the next release will be 3.5, which will be more of a service release with minor changes?

Anyway all this speculation is doing no good, I want to see more JB demo videos especially one of the hour long session James is going to do on sunday.

Re: 2 Reasons why more might be coming.....

I'm sure there'll be more than just a new synth after two years of development since R3. I don't know if it'll be soon though. If you look at the press shots of the stand at NAMM, Prop's still seem to be plugging the 'Play Your Reason System' thing - which is pretty much old news.

Re: 2 Reasons why more might be coming.....

I was about to say, after showing thor at namm, can u imagine the outcry if the next version wouldnt include that synth?

Overall i thought it was a weak showing. Those 'filler' refills gotta go. I had a feeling that there isnt going to be anything ground breaking. I think right before the Frankfurt Music Messe is were things will get interesting finally.

And to come out with only a new synth after 2 years seems a bit unlikely. Its funny but most requested things really shouldnt take years as most people want just an advanced matrix, Redrum and other little seq tools. People are still crying about midi and audio in reason but its a known fact that it will never happen.

: I noticed on the video at around 7:45 that there is more than 2 (maybe more)different oscillators.

The ones we see clearly is:
Analog osc and Wavetable osc.

What is the 3'rd?
Is it the FM osc?
3'rd osc?
