I haven't gone down this road yet, but you don't necessarily need a midi guitar as you can retrofit a midi pick-up on your guitar and get a midi interface for it.

I have, however, heard really great things about Godin guitars.

This might get you pointed in the right direction anyways.

Roland GK-3 based guitars are the best...

I saw an american guy who makes some very expensive guitars but they sound so.... !!!!!!!!!!!! (no word for it)

I'll try to find again that man.

EDIT : Godin is !!! thanks to gorkomatik.

There are a few manufacturers currently playing with MIDI guitars - some primarily for Guitar hero. They look like they could be fun and frustrating at the same time. There was a thread here recently.

You might get lucky and find one of the plastic stringed Casios from the 80's.

I remember reading Midge Ure of Ultravox talking about MIDIed guitars and saying you have to play so precicely and cleanly or you end up with rubbbish notes.

All the more reason to practice one's scales and right hand technique. I believe that there have been some improvements in note tracking in recent years.

that's a reason too for buying a very good instrument : a poor "toy-ed" guitar won't sound well with MIDI sensors and it will be a "boullie!!!"

The GK-3 + GR-20 MIDI system for guitars is not very expnsive, but you can't do anything that sounds wel if you own a basic Squier or the first Yamaha...
