Reason + Protools, Instruments triggered twice.
I emailed Propellerhead with this problem, but I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed.
I most frequently use reason via rewire into Protools LE or HD, and I often use Protools to sequence my MIDI tracks.
In version 4, I've noticed a problem with MIDI communication between the two programs. When I set up a midi track in protools and route the MIDI signal to a reason device, the device is triggered twice, causing the instrument to phase. Even if the reason instrument track is unarmed, I get phasing.
In previous versions, this phasing would happen only if the reason track and the protools track were both record enabled. Now it happens regardless of whether the reason track is armed. The reason instruments are always being triggered.
I have disabled MIDI thru in protools and tried changing lots of settings in Reason.
I have only found one workaround. If I highlight the "transport" track in the reason sequencer, the instrument devices are not triggered twice.
This problem slows my workflow significantly. Could you shed some light on this issue please? Why are the reason instruments triggering when they are turned off?
