Question Record....what hardware to get?

Hello

I recently purchased Record and am very excited to start using it....the guy in my local equipment shop suggested that I buy an Alesis Multimix 8 to record sound into my macbook and run my yamaha hsm50s

this didnt work as Record doesnt recognise the inputs for some weird reason...however i found i could record into garageband and tried it on my mate's pro and recorded into logic...

i was thinking of getting this to run my monitors, and to record my synths into Record and also use it to play my turntables etc....

any thoughts??

whats the ideal soundcard to get?

(in this sort of £££ range)
