Dual Monitors on a MacBook Pro

I just got Record and I am loving it, but my problem is that it's pain navigating between the different windows on a 13" screen. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro with a mini DVI port. I heard somewhere that mini DVI supports two monitors.

I was wondering:

1. Does Record allow you to put different windows on different monitors (ex. sequencer on one, rack on the other)?

2. Does anyone use a MacBook with mini DVI to power two different monitors?

3. I don't want to use the 13" MacBook screen as one of the monitors. I want two external monitors with different things on them.

Thanks for you help!
