Muddy Bass in the mix

Hiya,

I have been trying to record and mix a decent set of drums, and have been recording each one separate like they advise. The drums are sounding pretty ok. I came up with this little bass warm up routine years ago which became faster and faster over time and now resembles a very bad late eighties bass solo, however I tried it on top of my fab drum mix and it sounds awful. Normally I DI straight from my Ashdown rig , but recorded it from my UX2 with some chorus. How can you get the bass to sit nice in the mix ?. Even dry, I always had problems making the bass sit nice , it always comes across as flat and dull.

Cheers

Glenn
