Post Korg - newbie help

Can anyone help a newbie with a couple of Kong questions please?
I have reason 6.5 (latest updates installed) running on a windows 7 machine

1) once I have made a 1 bar midi loop in kong, I'm aware that I can change the kong kit whilst playing and hearing how that loop sounds with different kits. However say I altered the panning of one of the drums in kong using the little rotary. If I cycle through different kits and then return to the kit I altered it will not remember the panning. How do I manage to keep my little changes and cycling through kits?

2). I have a m-audio axiom 49 controller, I have worked out how the 8 pads on the controller can control the first 8 pads in kong. However I can't work out how to trigger pads 9-16 with the pads, only with the keyboard. Can anyone help please?
