Question Reason/Record Makes MacBook Pro Run HOT!

hiya... anyone else have this issue? I start Reason or Record... about a minute later, my MacBook is running the fan at full speed & it's wickedly hot. the DSP meter isn't even showing activity. ANY project does it.

Mac OS Activity Monitor claims the app is using about 17% CPU... that's not much IMO. none of my other apps do this. I have no other processes using more than 2% CPU. what's the deal??

MacBook Pro 3,1 (2.2GHz, 4GB ram), Snow Leopard.
Reason 5, Record 1.5.
