Opinions on Guitar for non-Guitarist

Hi there. I currently have a cort acoustic guitar which I use to hack away at some rhythmic stuff and lay down some tracks. As a keyboardist I'm just not that into all the different varieties of guitar available but I do realise that if I want an electric Guitar sound I really should get an electric guitar and not put my acoustic through some software amps.

So my question is does anyone have an opinion on the Epiphone es-339 pro which features the two different pickups (humbucker and coil) so I can fulfil any electric guitar requirements I may have in my recording process? I'll be glad to elaborate if you ask me questions.
