Low Pass Filters

I decided to try the pulverizer on my drums and when I engaged the low pass filter with 0 rezonance and cut off to the top (10.04 khz or 127) my drums sounded better, so listening carefully, the high's where cut off. making the cymbals and highs smoother. tried this on other songs and in general, had the same positive effect.

Where Im going is that as a "general" rule you highpass everything except bass and kick, is there such a "general" rule for low pass, if yes, what the "general" frequency for the intruments you use.

Or is it just the Pulverizer low pass filter (with no resonance and no cut off) that make things sound good.
