Suggestions on mimicking a sound

Hi guys,

I'm a sound engineer trying to expand on my skill and knowledge. I got Reason recently and love it. I'm currently trying to gain a better understanding of how to make 16bit/8bit sound effects, as I've seen a number of indie games projects and such looking specifically for these sounds. Using subtractor, I'm trying to mimic well known sounds from games. The first one I've tried is the little menu "blip" from FF6. Take a listen:

As I am still very new to reason, I'm basically looking for some advice on how to approach this. What sort of things should I be listening to and how can I use that information in Subtractor? I gave it a good shot and did a fairly ok job - but I'm not happy with it at all. I just can't get the tonality right. I've attached the project file (reason 5) so you can see exactly what I ended up with.

Any suggestions on how to get this closer?
