Stereo input sources?

I have an external synthesizer which I want to record in reason. It has all the FX applied to it and is already a stereo signal. How do I switch an audio track input to stereo mode? As it is, it looks like I need to have two channels, one for left and one for right, that I record as separate mono tracks. There has to be a better way. I can't think of any modern recording package that only records mono signals.
