Hardware recommendations for sampling vinyl in Reason

I've been trying to sample from vinyl using my Alesis USB mixer. After spending a couple of months searching the internet, posting here and contacting tech support both at Propellerhead and Alesis, I have come to the conclusion that my Alesis Multimix8USBfx usb mixer cannot be recognized by Reason 6, at least not without some kind of additional hardware, (perhaps a USB sound card?) And Alesis tech support told me to ask Propellerhead tech support, and Propellerhead tech support told me to ask Alesis tech support. So I've come to the conclusion that the mixer is the problem and I need something else.

So here's what I have:

MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.7.4 with 2.5ghz Intel Core processor, 4gb 1600 mhz DDR3
Reason 6

What I'm looking to do:

Sample from vinyl. My turntable does not have USB connectivity so I either need to run it through a mixer, run it through some other kind of audio interface or get a USB turntable.

What would you recommend?
