Smile Some Analog Synths on Tape

Here's a song I made with my Tascam 388 reel-to-reel/mixer. This was my first attempt to record to tape after always being 'in the box'. I used Renoise for sequencing percussion and to sync my hardware synths/send midi, then I played the strings in by hand. The drum tracks were slammed into the red to achieve some tape saturation. No effects were used in this track, including compression (other than the tape) or EQ, so the mix is a little rough. Reason was used to record the final mix from the Tascam, and for light 'mastering'.

I can't say this sounds any better than what I would have made with Reason on it's own, maybe a little bit different, but it was certainly FUN to make.
