Reason 7 MIDI out to VST

I love youtube. I found video of a guy who simply plugged one MIDI cable from the MIDI out right back into the MIDI in of his audio interface so that he could use Reason 7 MIDI out to sequence a VST. I tried it and it works. I just have to figure out a small lag issue . I know you can also accomplish this with virtual MIDI (CopperLan for example), but I haven't been able to get that method to work for me yet. Luckily my audio interface has an audio loop-back channel so I already have a way to record the audio out from my VST into Reason without soundflower or any other virtual audio. One of these days some company will get wise and just build a bunch of virtual MIDI and audio routing right into the audio interface device so we can do away with all these third party software solutions.
