mixing tracks together (bouncing)

Hi everyone its the noob again ..I have several midi piano parts done on seperate tracks, I have a very small midi keyboard, so I do lots of basic one finger stuff...well now I have all these piano tracks and I want to put them all into one track...ive already bounced them to audio tracks and deleted the midi tracks...I opened a new audio track and a mixer and wired the direct outputs of each track to the inputs of the mixer then tried to record them into the audio track umm...nothing happened and ive done this before, it worked beautifully...why cant I do it now?
Thanks!!
