Make an ARP pattern (ie. Trance Cheese) ?

I'm trying to learn how to make that typical "trance arpeggio sound" that we all know so well (if not, think System F / Out of the Blue).

It's not that I really want to use it in a song, but I feel lame for not knowing how to do it. I was in the music store the other day and spent five minutes on a Novation K-Station and played with the ARP. I know Reason doesn't have an ARP and I don't even know if that's what people like Ferry Corsten use, or if they make their own ARP patterns by clicking in notes in Cubase. My guess is that in Reason it needs to be done with the Matrix, but can someone tell me what the formula is?

This is an aweful feeling..not knowing how to write Trance Cheeze synth lines. I feel naked and lame. Someone, help, so I can feel complete again.

Really, I'd appreciate any help.

Thx!
Mark
