Real Instrument Sounding Music
Back in February, I posted a message asking if any REASON users were trying to write music that sounded like real instruments. One of the recommendations I got was to get better samples...
So, I have been writing music for the last 8 months using non-standard refills, which is why I haven't posted anything in a long time. My favorite refill is the Kick Ass Brass refill.
Anyway, I thought that some of you might be interesting in hearing what I've come up with, and what my typical rack looks like. All of my compositions are 100% done in REASON.
I like to write big band jazz, classical, and pop/gospel using traditional band and orchestra instruments. My background (before using samples) was trumpet and drums. You might notice the influence if you listen to my compositions.
Anyway, my website is:
My latest big band jazz songs are:
Half of a Song
Others that you might find interesting (in terms of trying to achieve realistic sounds) are:
Jesus is my Savior
Please let me know what you think. I welcome any tips or constructive criticism. I would also be happy to share my secrets too. Maybe all of us who are trying to achieve realistic sounds can improve our techniques this way.
