Ming's Top Five

As one half of the seminal break beat duo Ming+FS, Ming has been a driving force in the international electronica movement for over ten years. As a solo writer/producer, Ming’s career has been equally successful. He's been featured in hugely popular television series such as CSI: NY and Sex and The City, and worked with artists such as P-Diddy and The Cheetah Girls.

Superstrings (Factory Soundbank / NN-XT Sampler Patches / Combos and extras/)

I used this in the 33Hz & Ming remix of "Its Five" by Architects in Helsinki and recently in a Campbell Double Noodle Soup commercial. I use the strings in multiple sections of the song and I've used them in many releases.

Polka Tuba (Factory Soundbank / Subtractor Patches / Bass)

I've use this bass sounds more for the top and of an electro sound for countless productions. I usually set Filter 1 so that the Freq is fully on and the Res is off. Recently I used it in a Maybelline Commercial "Work It". It doubles the bassline and then opens up to be the main melodic element. I'm running the subtractor through some distortion in the Scream 4 with the EasyFuzz patch I increase the distortion as the track build to round out the sound.

Grand Piano (Factory Soundbank / NN-XT Sampler Patches / Piano)

Im currently using the Grand Piano running through the RV7000 with the EFX RevSpaceRepeat with the Dry/Wet set fully to Wet This creates a rolling piano effect that works incredibly well for ambient music. I'm using this combination in the score that I'm creating for the short film "The Line" by Nancy Schwartzman.

RnB Bass (Factory Soundbank / Subtractor Patches / Bass)

I'm using this all over Michael Lynche's album and it works really well as the sub bass for the Polka Tuba. http://www.michaellynche.com

Epic Poly (Factory Soundbank / Thor Patches)

This synth sound is very flexible and I've used it in everything from dance rock cues for MTV to thickening up guitars in Bazaar Royal's "I know Pain" to the main melodic element in Kaci Battaglia's "Start Me Up" (Both to be released)
